Strength Through Prayer

Dear HFCS Families & Friends,

As we journey through January together in Christ, I write to you with both heavy hearts and hopeful spirits. First, I ask you to join me in lifting up in prayer the family of our dear student, Wyatt Michael, whose father, Jed, has recently passed into God’s eternal embrace. In times like these, we are reminded of the profound strength of our Catholic community. A Meal Train has been established to support the family during this difficult time – a beautiful expression of how we can be Christ’s hands and feet for one another. Please consider participating in this act of mercy and love. https://mealtrain.com/97rkol

As we reflect on the early weeks of this new year, perhaps some of our initial resolutions have begun to fade. Yet, this presents us with a blessed opportunity to recenter our goals through the lens of our faith, focusing on aspirations that nurture not just our individual growth, but the flourishing of our entire Catholic family.

At Holy Family Catholic School, we embrace our sacred mission of fostering both spiritual and academic excellence. We see each child as a unique creation of God, blessed with special gifts to be celebrated and cultivated. This mission flourishes through our unity with our three parish communities – St. George, Pope St. Pius X, and St. Thomas the Apostle – each playing a vital role in our shared journey of faith.

Our Lord teaches us that small acts of faithfulness can yield abundant fruit. One simple way to support our mission of Catholic education is through our Scrip Program. I warmly encourage those who haven’t yet to download the RaiseRight app – a small investment of time that can make a meaningful difference in supporting our school’s mission.

To be Catholic is to embrace a life of loving sacrifice, extending far beyond our Sunday Mass attendance. It is about nurturing a personal relationship with Christ that continuously renews our spirit, enabling us to radiate God’s love in our daily lives. Each of us is called to active participation in the life of the Church – a calling that invites us to examine how we might more fully engage with our parish, school community, and families.

As we strive to become more Christ-like – a journey requiring perseverance, time, and above all, love – let us also remember in our prayers those affected by the fires in Southern California and the brave first responders serving them. May Our Lady’s mantle of protection cover them all.

Let us continue to pray for one another, knowing that through Christ, all things are possible.

Pax et bonum,

Sue Styren, M.Ed.
