My name is Mrs. Bazler (aka Ms. Baz), and I am an art teacher. I am originally from San Francisco, and a significant impact on my growing up was the time I spent at the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. My aunt and uncle did not have children and were like second parents to me. They generously took me to the de Young for new exhibits, to the opera, symphony, ballet, and the annual Pacific Musical Society competition. At the time, I just tagged along and enjoyed myself, not realizing the great cultural exposure I was incredibly fortunate to experience. I developed a genuine personal taste in art and music over time, and then my interests led me to add a love of literature and theatre. To this day, I sincerely appreciate my aunt and uncle and the exposure to the arts they provided for me, and I now enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for the arts with others.
A bit more about me as related to art, kids, and teaching: I worked for the Citizens’ Council for the Arts as a coordinator of Art on the Green for several years; I taught drama for the City of Coeur d’Alene’s award-winning Summer Arts for Youth Program for eight years; I facilitated youth programming for homeschooled students at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library for four years; and I homeschooled my own four children from preschool up to college or high school. I have taught Drama and Art & Art Appreciation at Holy Family Catholic School for five years.
Having worked with public schools, private schools, and homeschooled students over the years, HFCS kids stand out. I have been impressed with their respect for their school, teachers, and families, their gratitude for their education, their scope of general knowledge, and their ability to collaborate with one another in group settings. I love sharing my excitement about the arts with HFCS students!
