Lenten Journey of Hope

Dear HFCS Families & Friends,

“Let us journey together in hope.” – Pope Francis, Lenten Message 2025

Dear HFCS Families & Friends,As we continue our Lenten journey together, I’m reminded of how our school community embodies the three pillars of this holy season: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Through our collective efforts and shared commitment, we demonstrate these values to our students daily.

Mother/Son Dance

A heartfelt thank you to all parents who helped make our Mother/Son Dance last Saturday such a tremendous success! It was a beautiful opportunity to come together in celebration and community, strengthening the bonds that make our school family so special.

Basketball Season Update

Our basketball teams continue to have a wonderful season! I’d like to extend sincere gratitude to our dedicated coaches and our Athletic Director, Kellen Clemens, for their outstanding work with our students. While we celebrate our wins, we also recognize that sports at our school are primarily about forming meaningful relationships, learning the fundamentals of the game, and developing good sportsmanship—qualities that reflect our Catholic values of respect and integrity.

Annual Gala and Auction – “A Night in Italy”

Our Gala planning is in full swing thanks to our amazingly dedicated volunteers. This year’s “Night in Italy” promises to be unforgettable with a new venue, exciting silent auction, and thrilling live auction to follow. I encourage you to purchase tickets soon, as seating is limited. We hope to see you there for this important fundraising event!

Book Fair This Week

Visit our Book Fair in the school library during Parent-Teacher Conferences this week. The Well-Read Moose Bookstore has wonderful selections available, and all proceeds help expand our library resources for students throughout the year—another way we can practice good stewardship of our educational resources.

Lost and Found Items

Please take a moment to check the Lost and Found display in the front entry. Any items remaining after this Friday will be donated to Angel Rethreads or St. Vincent de Paul. There are several winter coats, hydration flasks, and other items waiting to be claimed.

Angel Rethreads Sale

Angel Rethreads will have uniform items and Spirit Wear on sale in the front hallway this week. If your children have outgrown their uniforms or you need new Spirit Wear, please stop by. Clean, gently used donations are also gratefully accepted. All funds raised by PIE’s Angel Rethreads support student programs through our parent organization. Thank you to our dedicated PIE members for their service—truly an example of almsgiving in action.

Lenten Reflection

During this sacred season of Lent, I encourage all families to embrace Pope Francis’ message to “journey together in hope.” There is no better time to reconnect with or deepen one’s faith than during these forty days. As we prepare our hearts for the joyous celebration of Christ’s resurrection at Easter, may we find moments of quiet prayer and reflection amidst our busy lives.

“God, may Your light guide my day, and Your spirit bring me peace. Amen.”

In faith and gratitude,

Pax et bonum,

Sue Styren, M.Ed.
