First Day of School Reminders

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! We are excited to welcome our students and their families back to campus starting September 5th and look forward to what will surely be another incredible year of expanding minds, fostering faith, and building community at HFCS!

Parking: Our parking lot is small, and we will have many families parking and walking their students into the building and staying for Mass and the parent social. Parking will be allowed in an organized fashion on the school field directly to the north of the parking lot.

Student Entry Points: Students are allowed to begin entering the school at 7:45 am. Preschool/Extended PreK through 4th grades enter through the main school doors. Fifth-8th grades and younger siblings enter through the east entrance. All students are expected to be in their classrooms by 8 am.

Uniforms: Students are required to wear their Mass uniforms.

Mass: We will be celebrating Mass on the Grass in the school field at 8:30 am. All are invited to attend. Please bring your own lawn chair. In the event of inclement weather, Mass will be moved to the gymnasium.

Parent Social following Mass: Parents In Education is hosting a “BooHoo/Yahoo” coffee and pastries social right after Mass. We will gather on the pavement outside the Commons. In the event of inclement weather, the social will be held in the Commons.

Afternoon Pick Up: Pickup begins at 2:55 pm. Please remember to put a sign with your family last name (or names if you are carpooling) on the dash of your vehicle. Students not picked up by 3:15 pm will be checked into aftercare. Please see below for the carline map and rules/etiquette.

CARLINE RULES & ETIQUETTE

Preschool-4th graders are dropped off and picked up in the loading zone along the sidewalk in front of the school. Please use the left lane (circles on the map) when entering the parking lot. (Please note: This loading zone is located along the sidewalk from the front door to the southeast corner of the school. Please do NOT drop off/pick up your child(ren) along the sidewalk to the west of the “Auction Parking” spots.)

5th-8th graders and siblings are dropped off and picked up in the loading zone along the sidewalk on the east side of the school. Please use the right lane (squares on the map) when entering the parking lot.
Children shall only exit/enter the vehicle on the passenger side when parked in a loading zone.

Please park only in the “General Parking” lot on the east side of the school. Please do not park in the diagonal, “Reserved,” or “Auction” parking spots in front of the school.
When parking, please walk with your child(ren) to the crosswalk located at the southeast corner of the building.
No cell phone use in the carline.
Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the carline.
No drop-off/pick-up is allowed on Kathleen Ave.
Please do not back up traffic on Kathleen Ave. If you cannot enter the parking lot, please drive around the corner and try again.
If your child is in before or after care, please note that the drop-off/pick-up location is at the Commons via the road that runs behind the gymnasium (red arrows on the map).

WHAT’S FOR LUNCH?

We need volunteers in the kitchen! We are looking for people to help Mon-Thurs with prep from 8:30-10 am and/or with serving from 11 am-1:30 pm. Please email Sharon if you have questions or can help. Thank you!

Sept. 5: Chicken Burger, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Baked French Fries, Strawberry Cups, Milk (no smoothie option)

Sept. 6: Spaghetti & Meat Sauce, Rolls, Steamed Broccoli, Pears, Milk

Sept. 7: Scrambled Eggs & Sausage, Baby Carrots, Crispy Celery Sticks, Milk

Sept. 8: Early Release (no lunch)
