Dear HFCS Families & Friends,
Celebrating Our Catholic Heritage: All Saints & All Souls
As October draws to a close, our neighborhoods come alive with festive decorations and carved pumpkins. While contemporary culture often associates this season with secular celebrations, it’s important to remember its profound Catholic roots. As noted by the Irish Catholic:
“What is certain is that Hallowe’en as we know it developed in relation to a feast which is definitely Catholic – the Solemnity of All Saints celebrated on November 1. There are more than 10,000 canonized saints in the Church, which means that not all of them can be recognised on a calendar of 365 days: All Saints Day commemorates all saints, canonized and otherwise.”

Prayer for All Souls
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed,
Through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
May the Divine assistance remain always with us,
And may the souls of the faithful departed,
Through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
Wishing our school community a blessed and safe Halloween, a holy All Saints Day, and a peaceful All Souls Day. May this sacred time bring us closer together in faith and fellowship.
Pax et bonum,
Sue Styren, M.Ed.
