Advent – Week 2 Season of Peace

Dear HFCS Families & Friends,

As we journey through this sacred Advent season, we are invited to reflect on the profound mysteries of our faith. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which we celebrated on December 9th, offers us a powerful lens through which to view God’s magnificent plan of redemption.

Fr. Donald Calloway, MIC, illuminates the deep spiritual significance of this holy day, describing the Immaculate Conception as more than a mere historical moment. He suggests it is a divine instrument through which God reveals His transformative vision for creation. As Fr. Calloway beautifully explains, this mystery is like a set of spiritual bifocals, allowing us to see the world through the lens of Divine Mercy—revealing the intricate connections between creation and salvation.

The connection between the Divine Mercy and the Immaculate Conception reminds us of God’s intricate and loving design. Just as the mystery of the Trinity sheds light on all things, the Immaculate Conception illuminates the profound depths of God’s redemptive plan.

As we enter the second week of Advent, we turn our hearts to the theme of peace. The peace of Christ transcends our circumstances, our anxieties, and our uncertainties. May this divine peace fill your homes and hearts during this blessed season of anticipation and hope.

We are also grateful to share some exciting developments at our school. Thanks to the work of Mr. Chavez and Stallion Systems Electrical Contractors, we have recently completed a significant lighting upgrade throughout our campus. Made possible in full by a grant from Avista, our new lighting system offers numerous benefits:

– Enhanced brightness and energy efficiency

– Flexible lighting controls for our dedicated teachers

– Improved learning environment for our students

– Significant reduction in energy consumption—using only a quarter of the energy of our previous system

These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible environment for our children’s growth and learning. We are blessed by the support of our community and the continued opportunity to serve our students.

May the peace of Christ be with you and your family throughout this Advent season.

Pax et bonum,

Sue Styren, M.Ed.
