Dear HFCS Families & Friends,
As the excitement of a new school year fills our hallways and classrooms, we’re thrilled to share some wonderful news about one of our most cherished programs. The buzz of preparation is everywhere—from teachers setting up their learning spaces to families gathering school supplies—and we couldn’t be more grateful for the community support that makes our school so special.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our incredible Grandparents Program and especially to Grandma Dolores, whose dedicated leadership and organizational skills make this meaningful initiative possible. Her commitment to our students and tireless coordination efforts truly embody the spirit of educational partnership.
Last week, our volunteer grandparents gathered for a delightful brunch to reconnect and plan for the year ahead. It was a joy to see familiar faces reunite while welcoming new employees and volunteers who are eager to join this impactful program. The energy and enthusiasm in the room reflected the genuine care these remarkable individuals bring to our school community.
Starting this fall, we’re excited to have our Grandparents Program back on campus every Tuesday and Thursday. These devoted volunteers will be working directly with our primary students, providing invaluable one-on-one mentoring in math and reading. The patience, wisdom, and encouragement they offer create connections that extend far beyond academic support—they’re building bridges between generations while nurturing young minds.
To all our grandparent volunteers: thank you for the countless hours and unwavering dedication you bring to our primary students. Your presence in our classrooms makes a profound difference, and we’re honored to have you as partners in education.
We also want to extend our gratitude to our Angel Rethread Volunteers, expertly led by Vita Bauer and Zoe Bieber, who organized a fantastic used uniform sale this evening. This wonderful initiative provides families with an affordable opportunity to purchase quality uniforms just in time for the new school year. A special thanks also goes to Ms. Sells and our Student Council members who were on hand to take Spirit Wear orders, adding even more school pride to the evening.
And thank you to all our volunteers that came out to help with the final phase of the security window installation today!
Here’s to another wonderful year of learning, growing, and creating lasting memories together with the support of our amazing volunteer community.
Pax et bonum,
Sue Styren, M.Ed.
