Blog – September Blessings

Dear HFCS Families & Friends,

In the spirit of Christ’s love, I am overjoyed to welcome you all to the new school year at HFCS! Whether you’re a returning family or joining our faith filled community for the first time, we are blessed to have you with us.

This year, we look forward to:

  • Nurturing our students’ academic growth and spiritual development
  • Strengthening our community bonds through shared faith and values
  • Exploring God’s creation through exciting learning opportunities
  • Cultivating compassion and service in the spirit of Catholic social teaching

To our new families: Welcome to our school family! We are delighted you’ve chosen to join us and look forward to getting to know you. To our returning families: Welcome back! Your continued trust and partnership in education is a true blessing.

A Community United in Service

What a beautiful testament to the strength of our Catholic community! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Knights of Columbus from the parishes of St. Pius, St. Thomas, and St. George, who served as guardians of safety and welcome on our first day. Their presence reminded us that we are part of something greater than ourselves, a network of faith that supports and protects our children.

Our deepest appreciation also goes to our dedicated parent and grandparent volunteers who opened their hearts and hands in service. The PIE organization deserves special recognition for creating such a wonderful “Boohoo Yahoo” reception, transforming what could have been tearful farewells into joyful celebrations of new beginnings.

We are profoundly grateful to Fathers Mariusz and Len, along with Deacon Andy, for blessing us with their presence at our first Mass of the school year. Their spiritual leadership sets the foundation for all we do. Father Len’s visit to our classrooms this Monday, taking time to connect with our students, exemplifies the pastoral care that makes our community so special. Having our parish priests on campus whenever their schedules allow is indeed a precious gift that enriches our daily walk in faith.

Moving Forward Together

Thank you to all parents and PIE board members who attended last night’s meeting with such enthusiasm and dedication. As we reviewed the exciting plans for the coming year, it became clear that our community thrives when we embrace the Gospel call to serve one another. The myriad of volunteer opportunities ahead are invitations to live out our Catholic values through action.

As the saying goes, “many hands make light work”, but more importantly, many hearts united in Christ’s love make our mission possible. When volunteer notices arrive in the coming weeks, we encourage you to prayerfully consider how you might contribute your unique gifts to our shared ministry of education.

As we begin this year, let us remember the words of St. Francis de Sales: “Be who you are and be that well.” At HFCS, we are committed to helping each child discover and nurture their God given talents while building a community rooted in faith, love, and service.

May God bless us all with a year filled with growth, joy, and abundant grace in Christ’s love.

Please see the volunteer opportunities listed below in this newsletter, perhaps one will call to your heart as a way to serve our beloved school community.

Pax et bonum,

Sue Styren, M.Ed.
