A new Idaho law now offers generous tax credits to families pursuing private education, including Catholic schools. Eligible families can receive up to $5,000 per child—or $7,500 for students with special needs—to help offset the cost of tuition or homeschool expenses. For many, this opens the door to educational opportunities that may have previously been out of reach.
Tammy Emerich, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Boise, expressed her strong support for this legislation, noting that it reflects a core value of Catholic education: honoring the role of parents as their child’s first and most important teachers.
“We’re excited to see a law that empowers families with more educational choices,” Emerich said. “Whether that means enrolling in one of our exceptional Catholic schools, homeschooling, or choosing a micro school setting, this legislation supports parents in making the best decisions for their children’s unique needs.”
She also extended gratitude to Governor Little for endorsing the law, recognizing his commitment to expanding educational options for Idaho families.
