Arts

Holy Family embraces the arts as a critical part of a quality education program. Our program strives to build a solid foundation in arts education. In addition, we provide our students with engaging opportunities to perform and share their gifts and talents with others. Our arts program consists of the following:

Music:  We offer students in grades 1 through 5 a weekly music class. This includes the opportunity for 4th graders to learn to play recorders. We offer 5th graders a Beginning Instrumental Ensemble class, while students in grades 6 through 8 can take an Instrumental Ensemble elective that offers instruction in learning to play a broad range of instruments.  Students in grades 4 through 8 have the opportunity to be a part of our Performing Choir.

Art Appreciation:  In addition to individual classroom instruction, grades 1 through 5 also participate in an art appreciation class twice a month. Our 7th grade art appreciation program combines art history with the study of artists and their techniques, culminating in a class project based on these techniques.

Foreign Language:  Students in grades Pre K through 4 receive a weekly Spanish class. We offer grades 6 through 8 a year-long foreign language elective featuring Spanish, French and Latin.

Students also have access to additional arts instruction in some of our after school programs, including piano instructional lab, individual instrument lessons and drama.
