Heartfelt Thank You

Dear Holy Family Catholic School Families and Friends,

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all the parents who helped make last week’s middle school dance such a resounding success! The students had a wonderful time, and the decorations were absolutely beautiful. You completely transformed the hallway and Commons into a magical disco atmosphere for our children. Your creativity and hard work made the evening truly special.

We also want to recognize everyone who contributed to our Catholic Schools Week activities. A special thank you to our Student Council, led by Kathy Sells, who did an amazing job organizing events throughout the week. The students had meaningful opportunities to recognize their parishes, their priests, their families, school volunteers, and each other. Most importantly, they were able to reflect on what a gift Catholic education is and to celebrate their faith in God.

Important Reminder: Parking Lot Safety

As I stand at the front door each day, I observe the traffic flow during dismissal. Yesterday, I was disheartened by the number of cars speeding past the front entrance and racing through the parking lot. Several times we could hear the screech of brakes as cars reached the exit. This is extremely concerning.

Please remember that small children and adults are crossing through that crosswalk regularly. It is critical that everyone abides by the 5 mile per hour speed limit in our school parking lot. We must prioritize the safety of our children and all adults in the area.

Additionally, please remember to stay in your vehicle during student loading. We understand that some children need assistance with seatbelts or car seats. If this is the case, please be mindful about positioning other children already in car seats so that the child being picked up doesn’t have to walk around the car.

Unfortunately, we have had several near-collision incidents where drivers accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. It would be absolutely devastating if a child or adult were walking between cars when such a mistake occurred. We want everyone to get home safely and return to school the next day healthy and ready to learn.

You are always welcome to park your car and come inside to pick up your child. We understand this requires maneuvering out of a parking space, but your cooperation in keeping our end-of-day routine safe for everyone is greatly appreciated.

Looking Ahead: February Mass

Tomorrow, Father Bruno will be celebrating Mass with us, and our 6th graders are in charge. We understand that Father Bruno will also be offering the Blessing of the Throats in honor of Saint Blaise, whose feast day is today, at the end of Mass.

As always, family members are warmly invited to join us for Mass. If you would like to receive the Blessing of the Throats, we encourage you to attend.

Thank you for your continued partnership in creating a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for our students.

Pax et bonum,

Sue Styren, M.Ed.
