Dear HFCS Friends and Families,
As your family prepares to celebrate the upcoming Harvest season, we invite you to join us for our annual Hawktoberfest celebration on Saturday, September 28th. This is a wonderful opportunity to gather with our school community, meet other parents, and enjoy fun, family-friendly activities. It’s a great time to model positivity and build each other up in the Lord.
We look forward to seeing you there!
As parents, the way we speak in front of our children has a profound impact on their development and well-being. Our words have the power to build them up or tear them down, and it’s crucial that we use that power wisely, guided by our Christian values.
When we fill our conversations with positivity, encouragement, and praise, we nurture our children’s self-esteem and help them see themselves as the beloved children of God that they are. Praising their efforts, highlighting their strengths, and speaking words of affirmation allows them to flourish. As the Bible says in Proverbs 16:24, “Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body”.
Conversely, negative speech can have devastating effects. As adults we model for our children how to discuss others. Ephesians 4:29 reminds us to “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”
“Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another and forgiving one another, if one has a grievance against another; as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do. And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection.” (Colossians 3:12-14).
Thank you to all of our wonderful Hawktoberfest chairs, committees, and volunteers. Your hard work and efforts are appreciated!!
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our Holy Family Catholic School.
Pax et bonum,
