Academic Support Services

The mission of our Roman Catholic Schools is to promote excellence in education–both spiritually and academically–for the whole person, thereby nourishing the gifts uniquely given to each by God.

Holy Family Catholic School recognizes that each child is a gift from God and that each child has unique gifts given by God.  Each child learns differently and requires that teachers know how best to share information, develop critical thinking, and nourish academic development.  Our teachers are skilled at differentiating their instruction to meet the varying needs of each child in the classroom.

Title I Services

Title I services are available for students who need extra reading support in grades K-5.  Our highly qualified Title I reading teacher, Mrs. Kathy Helbling, provides research-based instructional strategies in a small group, pull-out session to enhance the lessons that the classroom teacher is imparting to students.  Teachers collaborate with Mrs. Helbling to ensure that the Title I program is complementary to the general education curriculum.

Student Success Team

Volunteer teachers are members of the Student Support Team (SST) at HFCS.  These teachers work with classroom teachers who bring academic conunudrums to the group.  They confer, collaborate, examine data, and discuss strategies that the classroom teacher could implement to bring success to the student(s).  The SST is then willing and able to support the teacher in the implementation of new strategies as well as keeping data on the efficacy of the new efforts.

Intervention Team

Sometimes, a situation requires more intense intervention.  The SST can refer teachers to the Intervention team, which consists of highly trained teachers who can provide one-on-one and/or small group intervention to students who are not responding positively to whole classroom or individualized strategies.  The intervention team will collaborate individually with teachers to ensure that students’ needs are being met appropriately.

Enrollment is open to children from all faith traditions, Catholic and non-Catholic alike. Holy Family Catholic School admits qualified students of any race, color, gender, ethnicity, national origin, or disability (if reasonable accommodations can be assumed by the school and parents in partnership).
