At Holy Family Catholic School, the safety of our students and staff is a priority. We work closely with law enforcement officers to ensure that our safety plan is current and effective. Our building is locked during school hours and can only be accessed via video security at our front door. All adults working with children—whether teacher, volunteer, parent, or grandparent—have taken the Diocese of Boise’s Safe Environment program and have passed background checks.
Other securing measures include:
- Building securing system activated when building is empty.
- Building fire alarms.
- AED, first aid, and CPR training for staff.
- AED in gymnasium.
- Fire extinguishers
- Crisis plan in every room; crisis app on cell phones.
- Panic hardware on classroom doors.
- Schoolwide communication system.
- Frequent emergency drills.
Parent Alerts through AP Notify
In the event of an emergency or a school closure, HFCS uses our SIS program’s messenger system: AP Notify. Families receive messages via text, email, and/or voice message. We make every effort to keep our families updated in a timely fashion. However, in an emergency, the students’ safety is our first priority.
Safe Environment and Circle of Grace
The Diocese of Boise and Holy Family Catholic School are committed to providing a safe environment for our students, staff, faculty, and volunteers. To that end, we faithfully implement our Safe Environment program which requires continuing education, recurring background checks, and constant vigilance from our employees and volunteers. The Diocese of Boise has adopted Circle of Grace, a Catholic Safe Environment Training Program developed by the Diocese of Omaha. “The goal of the Circle of Grace program is to educate and empower children and young people to actively participate in a safe environment for themselves and others” (2007).
