Principal’s Welcome

Principal Message – Mrs. Sue Styren

On behalf of the Holy Family Catholic School community, I welcome you.

Holy Family has a rich history of faith, dedication, and academic excellence. Our school was founded by a group of parents who desired a quality academic program for their children.  They sought a learning environment where parents, as the primary educators of their children, could actively participate alongside teachers to develop the unique gifts and talents of each individual child. Finally, they wanted an education that provided daily opportunities for students to develop and deepen both their own relationship with God and their family’s faith.

Their vision was realized in 1996 when Holy Family Catholic School opened its doors as a K-3 school with 56 students.  Today, we enjoy a beautiful seven-acre campus with an impressive school campus, large playground, and field. Holy Family’s student body consists of Preschool-8th graders who participate in an active and dynamic educational program including extracurricular activities; families are also offered childcare and after school programs.  Most important, however, is the fact that the values treasured by the founding parents still exist and are fostered today.  Parents, teachers, staff, students, and a strong Catholic community work in partnership to achieve Holy Family’s mission “to promote excellence in education—both spiritually and academically—for the whole person, thereby nourishing the gifts uniquely given to each by God.” We are educating a new generation of community leaders who are ready to put their faith into action.

St. Augustine’s thoughts about loving relationships and what they mean to us as Catholic Educators provide inspiring food for thought as we prepare to meet the challenges of the day.  “Catholic school students learn to experience God’s grace and presence in their lives through their relationships with family, friends and teachers. The loving and supportive relationships they experience are reflections of the love and life-giving dynamic of the Trinity. As a community we celebrate our successes and achievements. We share grief and downfalls. We unite together in solidarity, and even challenge each other to become better reflections of the divine. We are made for community.”

As you look through our website and enjoy highlights from our school, we hope that you get a sense of who we are as a community; committed to a high-quality, comprehensive academic program centered around recognizing each student’s individual gifts and talents, fostering a love of life-long learning, nurturing the desire to form an ever-deepening relationship with God, and putting our faith in action in service to one another. If you feel inspired to join the Holy Family community, please contact us to learn how you can participate in helping us meet our mission by enrolling, volunteering, donating, or including us in your prayers.

May God guide and support each and every one of us. May He work through each of us to help us grow in wisdom, love, and grace.

Pax et Bonum,

Sue Styren, M.Ed.

Parental Covenant

HFCS is proud to be an Idaho “model” Catholic school, the first in Idaho to be completely self-supporting and to develop what we call the Parental Covenant. This document is the parents’ promise to play a significant role in their child’s academic and spiritual education and growth.
