Dear HFCS Families & Friends,
“As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” (1 Peter 4:10)
This verse has been on my heart as I reflect on the incredible outpouring of service we’ve witnessed over the past few weeks. Our school community thrives because of the countless volunteers who generously share their time, talents, and treasure to support our students and mission.
I want to extend heartfelt thanks to:
Miss Allie Linscott and Mrs. Heather Morgan for organizing our wonderful Hawktoberfest on Saturday, September 27th—what a joyful celebration of community!
Mr. Joe Guzman for leading our Cross Country meet on Friday, September 26th, and Coach Todd Turner and Mr. Kellen Clemens for their dedication to our Volleyball team and sports efforts at HFCS.
Mr. Jason Chavez and Anne Farrens for coordinating our Pro-Life month activities, helping our students understand and celebrate the dignity of every human life.
Miss Kathy Sells and our Student Council for bringing such creativity and school spirit to our Spirit Week activities, September 22-26.
Father Len for his faithful campus visits these past few Mondays and for celebrating Mass with our school community throughout September. Your presence is a blessing to us all.
The Knights of Columbus for their tireless commitment to our school’s safety and their invaluable assistance at Hawktoberfest.
Our devoted dads and granddads who faithfully serve in morning and afternoon carline and during recess duty—your reliability and care for our children mean more than words can express.
I’m also deeply grateful to the faculty members and volunteers who go above and beyond by teaching middle school electives: Mr. Griswold, one of our own as a published author, is teaching Creative Writing; Mr. Fowlkes is leading 3D Printing; Mr. Chavez Woodworking; and Mr. D’Angelo Jazz Band. What a gift to our students!
Thank you to Mrs. Coleman for curating our library with quality materials that help our students grow in both faith and joy through reading.
Finally, thank you to Scott Davis from St. Pius Parish for sharing insights on AI in education with our faculty on September 19th. As Mr. Davis wisely noted, we must help our children navigate new technologies with wisdom and discernment as they move forward.
There are so many puzzle pieces that create a successful and safe school community. Without the wonderful volunteers in our area, we simply could not offer the rich, faith-filled education your children receive each day.
Looking Ahead: Please remember there is no school this Thursday and Friday as our teachers attend the St. John Neumann Catholic Educators Conference. Our faculty will participate in exciting workshops on AI in Education and Security Awareness, Classroom Behavior Management (ADHD/Autism), Identity Talk + Hope and Activation, Engaging Youth Culture, and opportunities for faith formation and Mass with the Bishop. Please keep our teachers in your prayers as they grow in their vocation to serve your children.
May God continue to bless our community with generous hearts and willing hands.
Pax et bonum,
Sue Styren, M.Ed.
